MAX Video

A trade show attraction reel that stopped foot traffic

Corporate One needed a multimedia piece to launch their new MAX product suite at trade shows — something that would grab attention in a busy convention hall and draw visitors into the booth.

Challenge

The Problem

Trade show floors are chaotic. Attendees walk quickly, distractions are everywhere, and exhibitors have only seconds to capture attention before a prospect moves on to the next booth.

Corporate One's new MAX (Member Acquisition Experience) product suite was complex — a full platform with multiple modules. The challenge was distilling that complexity into a compelling, fast-moving visual story that worked without spoken audio and looped seamlessly.

Approach

Design Process

  1. 1

    Discovery

Interviewed the Corporate One sales team to understand what questions prospects asked most, what objections came up, and what moments in a demo generated the most excitement.

  2. 2

    Storyboarding

Developed 3 storyboard concepts with different narrative approaches: feature-led, benefit-led, and emotion-led. Tested concepts with 5 internal stakeholders to select the direction.

  3. 3

    Motion Design

Designed all motion graphics in After Effects with a tight 30-second loop. Used kinetic typography and product UI animations to communicate value without narration.

  4. 4

    Environment Design

Designed the dual-screen booth layout to maximize peripheral visibility from the aisle. Positioned screens at eye level on booth corners to create a visual frame that drew people in.

  5. 5

    Testing

Ran a pre-show walkthrough with the sales team to validate messaging clarity and timing. Made final pacing adjustments based on feedback before the first trade show deployment.

Thinking

Key Design Decisions

Silent-first design

Designed the entire piece to communicate without spoken audio. Trade show floors are loud and unpredictable. I instead used graphics, animations, and rhythmic, upbeat music to draw people in.

30-second loop

Kept the loop around 30 seconds so a passing attendee could absorb the full message in one pass. Longer loops meant prospects might only see a fragment and miss the core value proposition.

Dual-screen corner placement

Placing screens on the corners of the booth rather than the back wall meant the video was visible from both directions of foot traffic — doubling the effective reach of the display.

Outcomes

Results

The MAX attraction reel successfully stopped foot traffic at the trade show, drawing visitors into the booth for deeper product conversations with the sales team.
